Murder by Recession

I have lost jobs over the years, for reasons due to my action, or by those who sort to do me wrong. Have I ever wanted to take out those who had done me wrong? You can bet your ass I had. I once had a warehouse close down because it got wind that I was on my way.
It was a nice spring day in 1985, I was in charge of shipping and receiving for a electronic warehouse. A real shit job, hard work for nickels and a crew of shit people to deal with. But, the job was needed at the time. There was a change in management, a change that should not have affected me, since it was a friend of mine. Did, I say management? Yes, I did and because of this rise to management my so call pal thought he had become a king. People sometimes change, granted, but when things run fine until you decide it's your way or the highway, even if it's half ass backwoods. Or, because you may feel a threat not far away, you decide to create a crap excuse to take bread from a table that is in need.

On this day, I was ready to throw in the towel, lock and load, and bring with me the bastards that let this all happen. The details of that day would have been just like what we are reading these past few weeks with the rash of mass murder we are witnessing, and I am sure we will see more of it. I was lucky, and so were my targets of that day. I had a friend, who stood by me all day long, stood in my line of fire. He followed me, and pleaded with me when the barrel was pressed against my template, when I felt I would not accomplish my mission. His words "Please, don't do it, they'll blame me for it"

All of my problems had nothing to do with him, so I couldn't lay it on his head.
After hours of this madness, I confronted my friend (manager) with all intent to finish the job. He knew it, and yet he came right to me, palms up, and a look in his eyes that projected how sorry he was, but was willing to submit to the punishment, so others won't get involved. Do you know what I did? I hugged him. We are still friends today.

Our day turned out OK with no one getting hurt.

The reason why I am bringing this up is because it is to show you that it doesn't always turn out news worthy.

Lately the rash of mass murder is way to spread to scratch.

Binghamton's mayor and police chief say a man who killed 13 people inside an immigrant community center was depressed after recently losing a job and angry that he couldn't speak English well.

Father kills his 5 kids, then self.

A man fatally shot his wife, five young children and himself, claiming in a note he faxed to a TV station Tuesday that the couple had just been fired from their hospital jobs and together planned the killings as an escape for the whole family.

The nine victims of a Christmas Eve massacre 2008, dubbed the Santa Claus Killings because murder Bruce Pardo wore a Santa suit during the slaughter, were remembered Friday in a public service in a California...

There are more, but I was trying to get a point across.
It can happen with anyone when things get bad enought.

Swatting

Telephone pranks, what a concept.
When we we're kids we used to make prank calls all the time.
We'd make believe we we're a radio station and tell the folks on the other line that if they could guess the name of a song they would win 10,000.
Then we'd play a song over the phone that they couldn't miss and start screaming that they won, "You won, You won, 10,000 pounds of shit.

One of my favs was we'd pick a phone number at random, and start early in the morning and ask if Joey was home, they say there is no joey here.
Then repeat it several times a day with different voices or other friends calling and ask for Joey. Then at the end of the day you call up and say "Hello, this Joey, any messages?"

Sure it racked some people's nerves, and they get pissed off. But it seems that in this day and age pranking has risen to new heights. It called Swatting.

What is swatting you ask, well a dumb fucking idea, carried out by some dumb fucking moron, that put random people a position of having to survive an invasion from their local Swat Team. Coming at you full force, with a 911 call that claims that the Swat team is needed at your home address.

A man in Washington state has been sentenced to two and a half years in a federal prison for his role in a "SWATTing" conspiracy that included prank calls intended to scramble the police and SWAT teams in Alvarado and Fort Worth on unsuspecting victims.

Fight 1549 Safe and Sound

Chesley B. “Sully” Sullenberger

I am sure we will hear that name for a long time "Sully The Hero Pilot" and rightfully so.
Here was a man who held 150 plus lives in his hands and only moments to make a decision . A decision that could have turned into a major disaster.

A mini 911 was about to happen in New Jersey on his way to Tereboro airport where he was cleared to make a emergency landing.

His, heart, his mind and his his hands on the controls told him that flight 1549 would not make the landing strip in one piece.

So, with over 40 years of flight time and some very slick calmness, he decided that the icy water in the Hudson River would make for a some what safe landing instead of landing upon homes in NJ.

"Brace for impact" who the fuck wants to hear those three words while you are looking out your window at the water on the Hudson. Here you are now knowing that your life may end in the ice cold water just north of the World Trade Center.

"Brace for impact" What? I don't want to die, I need to be some place, and prayers start. I have to wonder if anyone had prayed to Sully. I am sure in the future if there are any problems on a plane you'll hear people praying to Sully.

Captain Sully, not only took down this plane for a landing and keeping the plane in one piece. The attendants and the pilots made sure that all passengers were brought out safely.

Within minuets, the plane was surrounded, by ferry service, waterway taxis and coast guard. And the heroism was passed on to these folks to create a link to safe ground.

New York can be called many things from many people, but when the chips are down, New York stands tall and always answers the call of disaster.

They are calling it "Miracle on the Hudson" What ever you call it, it is a Miracle.

New President Same Old Song

ON CLOSING GUANTANAMO BAY

"It is more difficult than I think a lot of people realize, and we are going to get it done, but part of the challenge that you have is that you have got a bunch of folks that have been detained, many of whom may be very dangerous, who have not been put on trial or have not gone through some adjudication.

Prisoner at Guantanamo Bay
Mr Obama has vowed to close Guantanamo Bay

And some of the evidence against them may be tainted, even though it's true. And so, how to balance creating a process that adheres to rule of law, habeas corpus, basic principles of Anglo-American legal system, but doing it in a way that doesn't result in releasing people who are intent on blowing us up.

But I don't want to be ambiguous about this. We are going to close Guantanamo and we are going to make sure that the procedures we set up are ones that abide by our constitution."

Obama on This Week with G. Stephanopoulos 01/11/09

Listen to what he had to say about investigating the 911 commission, the past is not important, we must move on. Even though the past is how we got to this place in the first place. You have to fix what is broken, not brush past it like it never happened.

He hasn't even taken office yet and he is starting with the excuses, and oh how hard things will be. Didn't he run on the promise of CHANGE?

The people really need better control over the people we pay to do certain jobs in out political arena. Bullshit, should not be accepted!

Welcome To The News Maze

I opened this blog...
so I could get off my chest shit that racks my nerves in the news. Between the media, the politicians, local sports, and public servant bullshit issues.

We have been handed nothing but lies about the war, September 11th 2001, Katrina, the oil take over, the cell phone radiation, and the heroin deals this government has made over the past administration's takeover.

The body count has been astronomical, and the attention it gets is always in bits and pieces. Some focus on the war, some 9-11, some on the victims of Katrina and some on the edges of the reality that we are getting screwed big time.

Here we will focus on it all! No free rides and no hidden agendas. We want answers, we'll ask for them, we'll share them and we'll plead for them as well.

September 11th 2001 I think is a good place for me to start. So many people had died, and so many questions had risen from the flesh infested dust, yet we let it pass without as much as a legal commitment. Justice was blinded by headlines of anthrax, Eron, the Church and it's sex scandals and anything else the people were willing to let blind them.

Normally, here in New York, we take pride in how we approach a crime scene. We look at details and we piece together what could be the cause of the crime. But this crime, had no crime scene, no investigation, no evidence turned over to the DA's office. What we got was full line of bullshit, that people wanted to believe, for people to keep the faith, while all along, being lied to. Sometimes, a lie, can be swallowed and digested just so it will pass through us.

First with all crimes, we have to look at who had the means, the motive and the opportunity. Within that frame work most crime investigations are conducted. We never had that chance, that chance was taken away from us before September 11, 2001. Now, in 2007, the crime scene still sits with human ash and more people paying the price because of this ash. A crime that has been killing for over seven years, and yet we still have no investigation? What we have is a war, deflecting our deepest desire to ask a simple question. What really happened on September 11th 2001?
